Summer Blowing By Again
I can't believe we're nearly at the end of July already! It's crazy how the time seems to fly faster and faster every year. I remember when I was young, summer seemed to last forever. But I guess that's before we all had to start working for a living, now summer is measured out in weekends, rather than endless sunny days :). Every weekend it seems there's something going on, someplace we have to be, or something we have to do, and that definatly makes the time fly by. So basically if you go by weekends, most people's "summer" is only about 26 or so days long, the rest of the time we're in the office all day, where it really doens't matter if it's rain or shine. I guess it seems like everything happens in the summer, weddings, camping trips, reunions etc...that makes the rest of year, where virtually nothing happens seem so slow. And every year at the end of summer we say the same thing to ourselves "next summer we're not booking so much stuff to do"...but alas next summer comes and it's booked up before the snow even melts most of the time. Oh well that's life right.
My summer so far has been pretty good, started my new job (which is going great), had a couple trips to the lake, a couple weekends in the city (btw - I still have to blog about how I spent my Canada day, hehe, it'll be along shortly ;) ) August is looking pretty busy too, a wedding, a class reunion.....and who knows what else will pop up on us. What I really would have loved to do just once would have been to go home for the weekend and just hang out at the farm, pick saskatoons, strawberries, and raspberries (mmmmm I love raspberries), sit in the shade and shell peas . I know a lot of you are thinking, why the hell would I want to do that?? It's just one of those little things I kind of miss , it reminds me of the endless summer afternoons. But I'm guessing I miissed that season already, it won't be long now and Harvest will be in full swing. Maybe if I'm lucky I'll be able to get some corn on the cob if we get to come down to help out :).
Don't worry I'm not being all down, like summer is over, I know that there is still plenty of summer left out there to enjoy, I just can't believe how fast it goes! So I hope all of you are enjoying your summer too and hope to see some of you folks at the farm soon!! Have a great summer and remember your sunblock!!!
